Rough Runner – Shooting Star Children’s Hospice

A team of 12 people from SMI will be competing in a Rough Running event on Sat 13th April in West Sussex braving the mud, obstacles and 15km running for Shooting Star Children’s Hospice Charity. The challenge is inspired by game shows including Total Wipeout, Takeshi’s Castle, Gladiators with a Travelator at the finish line. It will be a fun-filled but hard work for our team, however, with the Shooting Star charity in mind, we are sure to complete this challenge with brave faces.

Shooting Star is a leading children’s hospice charity supporting over 700 children, and their families, throughout Surrey and across 15 boroughs of London, 365 days a year. They offer families planned short breaks at two children’s hospices; Hospice at Home; daycare and special activities for the whole family; family support, counselling and therapies; symptom management and paediatric palliative care; emergency support for families in a crisis; care at the end of a child’s or young person’s life and bereavement support for the whole family, for as long as they need.

The work they do is amazing – it costs around £10m per year for them to support all these children and their families (£27,000 a day!)  SMI is aiming to raise £700 as a team and if you would like to support this great cause please visit
