  • The EN 388 is the European safety standard for gloves that protect against mechanical risks. This could be cuts, scrapes, punctures, and tears.

  • The type of PPE needed for hands will depend on the work environment and what the PPE risk assessment tells you. 

    For medical environments, you will need disposable gloves. Whereas for environments with heavy/sharp machinery, you will need cut resistant gloves.

  • Hand protection should be used in the workplace where there is any risk of injury to the hands. 

    A PPE risk assessment should be completed to ensure compliance.

  • The EN 374 standard means that gloves have been tested for their chemical resistance.

    They are tested and ranked depending on the chemicals they can be exposed to and for how long, split into five types.
