FAQs

  • The UK safety standard for hi-vis jackets is EN ISO 20471. There are three classes of hi-vis to choose from, with Class 3 offering the highest level of visibility.

  • The class of hi-vis you’ll need will depend on the type of work you do. For the most hazardous environments, you will need a Class 3 hi-vis. For low-risk environments such as warehouses, you can wear a Class 1.

Always make sure you do a PPE risk assessment, so you’re covered.

  • Orange hi-vis jackets are best suited for working in hazardous environments outdoors, or near trees and grass. Yellow hi-vis jackets are better for working in a warehouse or on a building site.

  • A hi-vis jacket is all about being seen, whereas a stormcoat is there to protect you from the elements.

A lot of jackets will combine the best of both to offer a practical and safe jacket.
