FAQs

  • Hi-vis t-shirts need to meet the EN ISO 20471 standard to be compliant as workwear.

The safety standards mean that hi-vis t-shirts can be easily seen both in the day and night, with fluorescent and retroflective materials required on minimum areas of the clothing. There are three standards to meet, and Class 3 offers the highest level of visibility.

  • The difference between Class 2 and Class 3 hi-vis t-shirts is the amount of reflective material on them.

Class 3 hi-vis shirts offer the highest level of visibility and should be worn in high-risk environments. Always make sure to do a risk assessment so you know which type of hi-vis you need.

  • It depends on your working environment. If you’re working outdoors near trees and grass, then an orange hi-vis is best suited. If you’re working in a warehouse, or on a building site, then a yellow hi-vis is best.

  • Start by choosing the hi-vis Class and colour that is needed to meet the safety requirements for your work environment. Then you can start thinking about whether you need long sleeves, short sleeves, UV protection, breathable fabrics, t-shirts, or polo shirts.
