Q3 2025 has been a busy and rewarding quarter for SMI.

From launching the ROKWEAR® Graphite, rolling out our upgraded MY-SMI® portal, and hosting our first-ever ESG Exhibition, it’s been a quarter that shows what happens when our team comes together.

Let’s take a closer look at everything that made this quarter so special.

THE SMI ESG EXHIBITION –
SHINING A LIGHT ON EVERYDAY EARTH

In September, we hosted our first-ever ESG Exhibition at BMA House in London.

The event brought together suppliers, customers, and partners to share ideas, explore sustainable solutions, and discover how ESG can make a real difference in day-to-day operations.

The day gave everyone the chance to:

  • Connect and learn, taking practical insights to take back to their own teams.
  • Join expert-led roundtables on sustainability, responsible sourcing, and measuring social and environmental impact.
  • Explore supplier stands, from workwear and footwear to gloves and spill control products designed with people and the planet in mind.

We were joined by suppliers, including Climate Partner, LEO Workwear, BSIF, Bollé, and V12, each bringing something unique to the day.

From innovative materials and sustainable manufacturing to smarter PPE solutions, it gave attendees a hands-on look at how sustainability can work in practice.

The success of our first ESG Exhibition has been inspiring. We’ll be running this event annually, giving more teams and partners the chance to connect, explore sustainable solutions, and take practical ideas back to their own organisations.

CELEBRATING OUR Q3 CHAMPION

Every quarter, SMI celebrates someone who truly goes above and beyond. This time, that person was Charlotte Harvey.

Charlotte is a shining star in our Customer Experience team. Her positivity, dedication, and drive make every customer feel valued and supported.

A key value of SMI is #We’reDependable, and Charlotte’s willingness to support not only her own team but colleagues across departments doesn’t go unnoticed.

Huge congratulations, Charlotte – we hope you enjoy that £200 voucher reward!

OUR LIGHTEST SAFETY BOOT YET

Weighing just 700 grams, the ROKWEAR
® Graphite is our lightest safety boot yet.

We developed the Graphite in response to feedback from teams that spend all day on their feet. The goal was simple: a safety boot that protects without slowing anyone down.

It’s flexible, waterproof, and breathable, built for comfort and performance throughout the day. Every choice, from the materials to the design, was made with the wearer in mind.

This launch is a great example of how innovation at SMI isn’t about features for features’ sake, it’s about supporting people in the jobs they do every day.

BATTING FOR BRAGGING RIGHTS

The SMI sports day is always a highlight, and this year brought more than a couple of bruised shins (and egos) along with plenty of laughs.

Teams battled it out with spectacular swings, dramatic dives, and moments that didn’t quite go to plan.

In the end, Team Orange came out on top, though Team Pink is still loudly contesting the result in the office!

Days like this are a great reminder that work is about more than tasks and targets; it’s about the people who make it all happen.

SMARTER ORDERING WITH MY-SMI®

Our MY-SMI® portal was developed to help our customers consolidate orders, invoices, and reports. But we knew something was missing.

We listened to your feedback and rebuilt MY-SMI® from the ground up. The result is a faster, easier-to-navigate portal that’s designed around the way you work.

Smarter dashboards, improved search, and streamlined ordering make finding what you need quicker and simpler. Whether you’re placing bulk orders, filtering products, or tracking your dashboard, MY-SMI® is built to help you save time and make ordering stress-free.

We’re not stopping there. New features and developments are on the way to make the portal even better - stay tuned!

MAKING A DIFFERENCE, ONE VISIT AT A TIME

Our Volunteer Committee spent time at Pendean Nursing Home in August, visiting residents and brightening their day.

It was a chance for colleagues to give back to the local community, use a portion of their one day of paid volunteering leave per year, and see the difference a few hours of effort can make.

Moments like these highlight the caring, committed people across SMI, both in and out of the workplace.

We’ll be heading back in November to lead a flower arranging course, an activity requested by the residents. The team is looking forward to spending more time with the people they got to know in Q3 and continuing to make a positive impact.

THE BIFFA & SMI PARTNERSHIP

This quarter, we celebrated our long-standing partnership with Biffa, which has now spanned over a decade.

Over the years, we’ve worked together to transform how PPE and workwear are managed across more than 500 sites, supporting thousands of people who keep essential services running every day.

The challenges were clear: improve fit and comfort for all colleagues, simplify ordering, and embed sustainability into the supply process.

Our collaboration delivered practical solutions, including a tailored female-fit range, centralised supply through SMI, and a recycling scheme for end-of-life garments.

The Biffa case study shows exactly how these solutions made a difference. From happier, safer teams to smoother, more sustainable operations.

A special shout-out to our marketing team, whose hard work brought this project to life and showcased the impact so effectively.

Here’s to the next ten years!

KC VS VH: ANNUAL FOOTBALL SHOWDOWN

There’s only one thing that our team takes more seriously than protecting your workforce, and that’s bragging rights. The annual Head Office vs Warehouse football match lived up to the hype this year.

Ninety minutes of grit, goals, and maybe one or two questionable tackles later, the head office team sealed the win at 6-4, keeping the trophy for the second year running.

The warehouse team, however, is already plotting their comeback, and we wouldn’t be surprised if next year brings even fiercer competition!

LOOKING AHEAD

As we near the end of the year, I couldn’t be prouder of the hard work put in across departments, sites, and projects.

SMI continues to not only grow, but also to raise the standards we set for ourselves. We’ve got a busy Q4 ahead, with awards for our brilliant ESG team, the launch of our 2025/2026 SMI Catalogue and plenty of developments to look forward to.

Thank you all for your continued support. Let’s close the year on a high!
